Centre for Applied Research and Study in Perceptual Psychoeducation
affiliated to the Fernando Pessoa University

The objective of the Centre for Applied Research and Study in Perceptual Psychoeducation (CERAP) affiliated to the Fernando Pessoa University (UFP)  in Porto (www.ufp.pt) is to study the particular relationship individuals have to the ‘Sensible’ experience of the body and the place of the ‘Sensible’ body in educational, formative and existential learning processes.

“The originality of our formative practice resides in supporting the emergence of an immanent meaning arising from a particular mode of relating to the ‘Sensible’ experience of the body. Research in lived experience is by nature both subjective and deeply engaging, and therefore requires that the researcher adopts a posture which takes these characteristics into account.”
Professor Danis Bois, CERAP Director

Note on translation : The term ‘Sensible’ is the English term we have chosen for the French word “sensible”, which is usually translated as sensitive. This is to convey the idea of a particular “sensibility” of the body matter that relates to both bodily and mental processes.
